LWCC YOGA

Improve your Balance

Balance is a team effort between your eyes (ocular system), your inner ears (vestibular system) as well as your bones and joints. When these systems are out of sync, you may experience dizziness, brain fog, or a fear of falling. Classes are designed for those looking to prevent falls/boost confidence, anyone recovering from vertigo/vestibular issues or athletes wanting to improve reaction time/ awareness. Exercises will include gaze stabilization, balance retraining, head-turn walking and/or habituation drills. This includes yoga poses (no experience necessary), getting up and down on your yoga mat: seated, standing, and/or on hands & knees. The goal is to improve our stability, mobility, coordination, concentration, regulation of breath control, confidence, and freedom. The class instructor; Cathy is a 200 Hour Registered Yoga (200 RYT) as well as a Brain Longevity Specialist via Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga classes are a slower pace which is less intense than traditional yoga classes, thereby allowing participants to pay close attention to their body's sensations and limitations.

Gentle yoga emphasizes conscious breathing (pranayama) in order to calm the nervous system and promote relaxation. A slower tempo allows for deeper stretching that can help to release tension, increase flexibility and improve balance.

Must be able to be get up and down from floor as well as be on knees, standing up as well as lying down unassisted/no chair.
